Not Quite Traditional. Not Quite Homeschool. Novastar's Hybrid Option Might Be Exactly What You're Looking For.
Does your middle schooler sometimes catch a case of the Sunday scaries? If the traditional school week doesn't fit your family but full homeschooling feels like too much, Novastar Academy offers a tuition-free middle ground: real campus days, real teachers, and the flexibility to make the rest of the week your own.
Flexible by Design
Here's what a hybrid week at Novastar actually looks like. Your child comes to Novastar's campus in Centennial on their scheduled days. They work with certified teachers in small-group settings (1:10 ratio), rotating through subject-specific spaces: the STEM lab, culinary arts kitchen, art studio, and performing arts space. They're grouped by ability and skill, not age or grade level.
On home days, families follow a real structure, not a pile of worksheets.
Why Families Choose the Hybrid Path
One of the biggest draws to Novastar’s hybrid program is what's waiting for students on campus days. This isn't a homeschool co-op inside a neighbor’s house. Novastar offers a state-of-the-art facility filled with a library, gymnasium, performing arts space, indoor playground, art studio, and STEAM lab. Students participate in enrichment clubs, and project-based learning that connects what they're studying to real-world problems and experiences.
During non-campus days, students complete their core academics online through the Strong Mind platform at their own pace, while digital attendance is tracked on all off-campus school days. Novastar makes it easy for families: when you enroll, there’s no need to file a Notice of Intent or manage testing independently. Novastar handles compliance, attendance tracking, and transcripts.
Students earn real CTE credits (Career & Technical Education), and official transcripts are provided that are fully recognized for high school admission, so your child leaves middle school prepared for high school and the future.
Novastar Offers a Real Campus, Teachers & Community
When your middle schooler joins Novastar’s hybrid program, they unlock access to all of our clubs, enrichment activities, and school-wide events.
Every family joins for a different reason – hybrid families can include gifted learners who need more depth, language learners finding their footing, and parents with schedules that a rigid school week can't accommodate. Some families started homeschooling and wanted more support; others wanted more flexibility than traditional school allows.
Novastar's hybrid program gives families the flexibility and personalization of homeschooling, with the community, teachers, and facilities that homeschooling can't provide on its own. Curious if the hybrid program is the right fit? Start with a tour of our campus, and make the choice for yourself. We offer 30 minute tours throughout the week during a time that works for you and your family - bring your middle schooler, and join us!
